14,000 dogs die a day at our animal control facilities. This is a short documentary that exhibits the challenges facing dogs and the people that support them. It also focuses on the great work of Lulu's Rescue (lulusrescue.com) who rescue dogs from North/South Carolina up to Pennsylvania, and follows their efforts to go beyond just rescue and create an all-important spay/neuter initiative.

Well mostly. This Saturday the Lulu's short documentary will be shown for the first time live at the Eat, Bark, Bid Event and we will present it online soon after next week. There still may be tickets, there will be a ridiculously good meal, I suggest you attend.

I am thankful for everyone invloved: Michelle & Jane who run Lulu's Rescue and are working so hard to make a difference, Jason & Cathy filming great footage to show what's there, and all of the volunteers and people we met, blew me away with your care & effort. Always thanks to Joy & Sooey, a little extra.

Take29 has a lot coming up. We can't wait to show Rothon, and soon after many more projects, but right now take a look at Lulu's Rescue and see how you can contribute.

Summer is Coming.

First, an apology. I have not been updating enough on all the exciting projects we have been working on. We are still here, and I am making it a priority to keep this site up to pace. Second, boy do we have some updates to give you!

Jason has been keeping very busy with several ongoing projects including: "Karate Tango" a film adaptaion of a musical, "The Divide" which will not wrap until next fall, and of course the Lulu's Rescue project (see below). Coming in late Summer, production will start on "Billy Barnwells Favorite Friends". Stay tuned for more on this exciting project!

Brannon recently edited a video for a Riverkeeper event honoring Bill Clinton and Sting for their work trying to help keep NY waterways clean.

Most importantly, Rothon is finally being released soon! The sound design and mix are finished, the soundtrack is in. The last few vfx shots are being polished and dropped in. We promise this will be released upon the world very very soon!

No truth to the rumor that Rothon took longer in post-production than Avatar.

We are also currently working on a very special project that is close to both Jason and my heart. Last October I adopted my dog Sooey from a great Rescue organization called Lulu's Rescue. Jason also has three dogs he rescued (from elsewhere). We kept in touch and Jason and I decided to help them for a huge fundraiser they have in July which will raise money to send a mobile vet down to North Carolina to spay and neuter dogs.

She just wants a home and a second chance at life.

Lulu's is committed to rescuing as many dogs as they can from high-kill-rate dog shelters in North Carolina as well as increasing awarness on the need for spay and neuter programs. Many of these shelters have kill rates as high as 90% and some of the methods for euthanasia, such as gas chambers, are far from humane. We are producing a short documentary that will help show the ongoing crisis for the dogs in that area as well celebrating the hard working volunteers that are on the front lines trying to change their fate.

 Desperate for love and attention.

Go to Lulu's website if you're interested in this great event. They are having a farm to table dinner as well as auctions and the cast from National Geographic's "Rescue Ink" will be there to present the Spirit of Hope Award. The short documnetary will premiere at the event on July 16th and will be viewable on the web soon after.

Not to mention, Jason and his wife welcomed a new beautiful baby boy, Quinn. Brannon and his wife welcomed a new adopted puppy, Sooey. She's a sweet Blue Heeler (yep, the same type of dog as the pup in Mad Max). We can neither confirm nor deny the rumor that baby Quinn may be going as Quato for Halloween.

"The Walking Dead" Tribute from bshiflett on Vimeo.

I bought the first issue of Robert Kirkman’s “The Walking Dead” as a blind buy and, like many who have read it, was instantly hooked and could not get enough. As time went on I thought, “How great would it be if this were TV series?!”, and this tribute was born. Rather than translate one issue I decided to put together a “trailer” of what my vision of the series would look/feel like. The opening scene is something I wrote to give the Zombie’s some face time, but with the montage I wanted to focus on some key scenes fans would recognize. I also chose to use scenes with the characters not involving the zombies because the story really is about the living. We hope you enjoy.
